What Are We Building? A Patient-Driven Ecosystem.
Current web and social media resources fail to address the full range of quality of life issues and lack the overall patient perspective and innovative applications necessary to drive real decision-making. At Pulse, we are building a patient-driven ecosystem where patients, family members and friends can support one another.
Here's what we hope to achieve:
- Connect and share with other patients within the same stage and treatment or at other points within the disease
- Discover experience-tested recommendations whether medical, financial, social or psychological that have helped other patients and families improve their overall quality of care and life
- Understand the current standard of care through an aggregate lens of ALL peer patients in the same disease stage or other stages
- Learn from valuable resources contributed by other patients as well as our own team of patient advocates
- Leverage innovative applications (e.g. Pulse Companion) to be better prepared to engage doctors in healthcare decisions
Why Now? Cancer's Personal and Your Experience Matters.
As a cancer patient, a concerned family member, or a friend:
- Have you ever felt overwhelmed with the complexity of cancer?
- Have you ever felt unprepared to make a difficult treatment or care decision?
- Have you ever wondered how the majority of patients in your similar situation acted and either regretted their decision or benefitted from it?
Cancer is an extremely personal disease, affecting all facets of our lives (physical, emotional, and social) and as a result, also impacting the quality of life of our loved ones. If you would like to request a community, provide feedback about our site or have a new product idea for us, please do not hesitate to reach us at: info@pulseofthepatient.com. We'd love to hear from you and will do our best in helping you through your struggle.
Our Respect for Privacy
At Pulse, we are committed to maintaining patient confidentiality, by never requiring extremely personal patient information throughout our site. We encourage patients, family members and caregivers to share as much information as they are comfortable with – knowing that all members of our ecosystem will likely benefit from each other’s contributions. Targeted advertising and partnerships with key societies, foundations and other strategic partners will cover our operating costs. Any data shared on the “Site” and is used by Pulse of the Patient with these trusted partners is anonymized to drive improvement of quality of care, life, patient support, public policy and reform initiatives.
